John F. Schneider, MD, PhD is a board-certified internist from Flossmoor, Illinois, and holds a PhD in biochemistry. He has served in various leadership positions within the Illinois State Medical Society, including first vice-president in 2000 and speaker of the House of Delegates from 1997 to 1999. Dr. Schneider is a member of the American Medical Association and is currently a member of their Council on Scientific Affairs. Locally, he is a member and the immediate past president of the Chicago Medical Society, having also served as chairman of the CMS Council. He is also active with the Institute of Medicine of Chicago, serving as their immediate past president, and is a member of the American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine where he serves as the Illinois Chapter Treasurer. From 1970 to 2001, Dr. Schneider was an attending primary care physician at the University of Chicago Hospital, where he also served on the hospital's Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Committees and served as chairman of the Continuing Medical Education Committee. He was also a professor of clinical medicine at Pritzker School of Medicine's Division of Biological Sciences, University of Chicago. Dr. Schneider received his medical degree, with honors, at the Pritzker School of Medicine, University of Chicago. He received his doctorate from the University of Chicago and then continued at the University to serve his residency in internal medicine.
