James Webster, Jr., MD is Professor of Medicine and Emeritus Director of the Buehler Center on Aging at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University. He is a native Chicagoan and received his education at the University of Chicago and the Feinberg School of Medicine. His postgraduate medical education took place in Philadelphia, Chicago, and on an NIH Fellowship. Dr. Webster served as Chief of the in-patient medical service at Northwestern Memorial Hospital for 17 years before coming to the Buehler Center in 1985. His professional activities and interests include improving systems of delivery of geriatric care, pulmonary disease in the elderly, iatrogenesis, and prevention. Dr. Webster currently serves as Executive Director of the Institute of Medicine of Chicago and is President of the Chicago Board of Health. He continues to chair the Task Force on Aging of the American College of Physicians, which recently hosted the national Assessing Care of Vulnerable Elderly (ACOVE) project. He continues to make local, national, and international presentations.
