| Cathy N. Grossi, BSN, JD is Assistant Vice President of Health Policy and Regulation at the Illinois Hospital Association. Her responsibilities involve developing and facilitating hospital positions in light of health policy concerns primarily related to quality and patient care issues. Patient safety and medical error have been a major focus of her work since the Institute of Medicine published its report, To Err is Human, in November 1999. Ms. Grossi received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Syracuse University in 1974, a nursing degree from the University of Illinois in 1979, and a law degree, with a certificate in health law, from DePaul University in 1998. She was admitted to the Illinois bar in November 1998. She continues to work part-time as a staff nurse on a telemetry unit at a Chicago medical center. |
