Press Release: July 22, 2009 – The Coalition for Quality and Patient Safety of Chicagoland (CQPS), announced today that Monica C. Berry, BSN, JD has accepted the position of Chief Operating Officer. Berry joins a CQPS team focused on advancing safe, high quality care that includes a federally-certified Patient Safety Organization (PSO), one of the first in the nation.

Press Release: May 14, 2009 – The Coalition for Quality and Patient Safety of Chicagoland (CQPS), announced today it has reached an agreement with ECRI Institute Patient Safety Organization (PSO) to implement a Chicago-based PSO dedicated to improving safety and quality of care in the Chicago metro region.

On March 16, 2009 CQPS offices relocated to 222 South Riverside Drive. We are now housed in the offices of the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council. Martin J. Hatlie, JD has been retained as our new CEO. We look forward to working with the Chicago quality and patient safety communities to develop an exciting agenda for change in the months to come.

On January 1, 2009 CPSF assumed the new name "Coalition for Quality and Patient Safety of Chicagoland" (CQPS), a reorganization and refocusing of our organization to better engage with and serve the needs of the broader healthcare community.

Our members recognize the need for an independent organization to connect existing systems and structures of care to generate the best possible outcomes for patients. CQPS is focused on improving quality and patient safety for all diverse communities of patients and family members.

On January 5th, CQPS together with Consumers Advancing Patient Safety (CAPS), hosted a Health Community Discussion in response to a call for input from the Obama-Biden Transition Team. More than 50 people attended.

On January 1, the name of Chicago Patient Safety Forum was formally changed to the Coalition for Quality and Patient Safety of Chicagoland (CQPS).
